Narendra
Modi : Secular Credential
Gujarat is counted under one of the most developed state .Every single citizen is aware of the growth rate of Gujarat As a result, today a vast section of society sees Narendra Modi
as their Prime Minister. His last glorious victory in Gujarat has strengthened
his candidateship even more . In 2012, he became the face of the “Time
Magazine”.Even his this achievement itself speaks about his magnetic
personality . However ,the question that “whether Modi is secular or not” is
still in the mind of minorities.
It is believed that Modi
was the one who was responsible for the Gujarat riots . However,if we calculate
the facts, then we will come to know that its just because of Modi Gujarat was
able to cope up with that mini war and now shining as one of the most developed
state in every aspect. It was Modi who asked to set an enquiry commission for
the investigation of riots.Meanwhile, hea has the option to chose any man of
his choice. As a result , Nanavati committee was formed . After observing the
report filed by them , Supreme Court gave a clean chit to Modi.Still there are
many myths regarding the Gujarat riots 2002. On the basis of those myths ,its
is claimed that Modi was behind the Godhara kand .
The black spot on his
character i.e communal riots took place when a mob
of Muslims gathered at Signal Falia near Godhra railway station with 140+
litres of Petrol and burnt the coach of Sabarmati express killing brutally 59
Hindu devotees coming from Ayodhya, and that was after the slogans of
“Hindustan Murdabad” were shouted from the Godhra mosque, (according to nanvati
committee report and court’s observation) . This is how the riots triggred off.
As a result people in Gujrat got out of
control and started attacking each other . According to a statement by the P.C.
Pandey , police commissioner of ahmedabad
, to the India Today , "In my 32-year career I
have never seen something like this. It was an upsurge, unstoppable and
unprecedented. A stage came when it became physically impossible for the police
to tackle mobs running into thousands". This was
the reason why Modi gave a shoot at sight order, so that the mob can be
controlled. During the riots, from a mob of 20,000 around 180 Muslims out of 250, were saved by the police who took shelter in
Ehsan jafri’s house. They not only saved
those people of that community but also fired at the rioters and 98 of them
were eliminated also . Not only this
when the riots were over and the condition was controlled. The government of
Gujarat spended around Rs 35 lakh a day on relief camps in March April 2002, the camps in which 1 lakh were Muslims and 40,000 were Hindus. Houses were constructed for the homeless and all sorts of help was given to
both Hindus and Muslims who suffered in the riots. The Gujarat Government
spended more than 204 crores.
If we talk about the legal
action and justice regarding all the victims of the riots. Then it is a fact and a
world record too that 249 convictions (at least) till now in 19 cases took
place. The efficiency of both the government and police can be easily concluded
by the the fact that the number of rioters who were arrested were 25,486 (17,489 Hindus and 7,997 Muslims ).
After concluding all the above facts, how, can one consider that Modi is not secular ?? If one wants
some more facts to satisfy himself/herself then he/she can have a look on the
development graph of Gujarat. Some of the facts I complied here :
Gujarat is the only state in India where water level has come up due
to Modi government’s environment centric policies. Gujarat has managed to
reduce the drop-out rate among elementary school children from a high of 49% to
near zero. In higher education sector, Gujarat has opened around 30
Universities over 10 years to remove the
scarcity of educational infrastructure. This includes a world-class
Forensic Science University.
Modi is a person who is not
only accepted by the people who attend the Kumbh mela (the religious one ) but
also by the educated youth (who have scientific approach ). He is the person,
who in actual talks about secularism . Whenever he talks about the people of
Gujarat, he quotes them as “ Gujratis” not like Hindu Muslim or other . He
always speaks for his 6 crore Gujarati. In the meeting of National Development
Council at New Delhi, on December 9th, 2006 , where our respected Prime
Minister gave statement that that Muslims must have first right on India’s
resources. It was Narendra Modi who said that the poor must have the first
right.
